About

Tercel is an instrumental prog band from Hannover/Brunswick (Germany) and can be seen as a deviation from monotonous everyday music. The music challenges the system by avoiding conventional song structures and by incorporating various influences that transcend genre boundaries. The songwriting is based on patterns, streams of conciousness and emotions. The live adaptation of the multi-layered studio recordings is an elementary and exciting part of the band’s development. Not only are the songs tailored to the trio and rewritten in parts, but Tercel’s three characters also have the freedom to adapt variable elements to each situation.
At a few selected concerts Tercel aims to draw the audience into the atmosphere of the music and sets no spotlight on a singular main performer.

History

Tercel was founded in 2013 by the then sole member Karl Philipp Falk in Hannover, Germany. The demo tape “Vortex” released at the very end of the same year. The digital single “Petrichor” followed in 2014 and the first album “Chapter 2: Would You Kindly” saw the light of day in 2015. In 2016 the former studio project developed further and the band Tercel was launched in Brunswick in the beginning of 2017 consisting of drummer Yannick Nause, bassist Szymon Wenzel and guitarist Karl Philipp Falk. Later that year Tercel’s second album “Kindred Spirits” was released and the band played their first show in Hannover. In 2018 and 2019 the band played several gigs and released their first live EP “Catching the Animal Alive”. During the first lockdown period in 2020 the “Isolation Blues” was written, recorded and produced by Karl Philipp Falk. A new album (called MÄANDER) is currently in the works and will be released in the form of three consecutive EPs.
